A Delhi Court has finally allowed the Punjab Police to formally arrest Lawrence Bishnoi in connection to the investigation into the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, reported India Today.
The accused was produced in a Delhi court on Tuesday, June 14, at the end of his remand period in connection with an Arms Act case registered against him. The Punjab Police sought custody of Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with their probe into the murder of the late singer who was shot dead in Jawaharke village of Mansa district on May 29.
The recent update comes after the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had emerged in connection with the killing of Sidhu Moose Wala. Bishnoi’s lawyer had filed a petition in Delhi’s Patiala court seeking increased security for the jailed accused. His lawyer had alleged that Lawrence Bishnoi could be killed in ‘fake encounter’ by the officials or rival gangs could also launch an attack.
On Tuesday, a Delhi court allowed Punjab Police to formally arrest Lawrence Bishnoi. However, the court asked the Punjab Police to provide the necessary documents and only after that will the application seeking transit remand be considered, reported India Today.
Meanwhile, the probe into the late Sidhu Moose Wala’s shooting has taken yet another turn as Santosh Jadhav, a suspected sharpshooter in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, and his aide Navnath Suryavanshi, also a suspect, were arrested from Bhuj in Gujarat today.
The Pune Rural police nabbed the two. Interestingly, the teams of Punjab and Delhi police had been on the lookout for the two.
